5th Anniversary Pre-Issue Release Party!
This birthday party was both chic and personal, celebrating the life of Alive Magazine and the young women who have made it possible. You helped Alive blow out the candles... and helped realize our wish to give young women a voice in media and a place in the world.
The doors opened at 7 p.m. and the night started off with wonderful music by Alicia Wiley. Cocktails and amazing hors d'oeuvres were then served as the Rosewood Room in Minneapolis' historic Warehouse District started to fill. Then Jen Dotson, Executive Director, gave a empowering speech on what is a new media for a new generation. Founding Editor, Heather Scheiwe, talked about what it meant to her to see how women are portrayed in today's media. She referenced the Miley Cyrus incident and commented on how great it was that two women were running in major political races but was sad to see most of the country focused on their clothes. At 8:45 p.m. the Alive Magazine's "What I See in the Media" video was played to hundreds of new eyes. We had a raffle and numerous people won amazing prizes. The night continued with a recognition ceremony and a shout out to all of the interns that have helped make Alive what it is today. Then our silent auction winners were announced. Alison Scott showed her phenomenal talents as she and her band played their music to carry on the party until its finish.
Overall the party was a great success! Everyone receieved a pre-release copy of Alive's 5th Anniversary Issue. There was amazing food and wonderful talent that filled the room. If you missed this event, we will be having more in the near future that you've got to be sure not to miss.
